If you're travelling from afar (that's you, european guests), here's some tips about getting there and accomocation.

Flights

Flights

San Francisco's SFO airport and Oakland Airport are the best destinations for flying in for the wedding. SFO is on the outskirts of the city, and is linked to San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley by the BART metro system.

Most trans-atlantic flights airlines will stop over either in new York or Chicago on their way to California. Virgin Atlantic fly direct from London - the total airtime is typically between 10 and 15 hours depending on what route you take.

Flight comparison sites like SkyScanner are the best bet for finding a deal across all of the trans-atlantic airlines

  • Aer Lingus Atlantic
  • KLM
  • American Airlines
  • United
  • Air France
  • British Airways
  • Virgin Atlantic
  • US Airways
  • Iberia
  • Lufthansa
Currently, flights at the start of August are about €830 return. From previous travels, we would hope to get flights for somewhere between €800-900 (return). Flying in mid/late-July tends to work out closer to €760, and travelling on a Monday-Wednesday usually results in lower fares than a weekend flight.
Accomodation

Accommodation

The Bancroft has 22 rooms, all of which are on-hold for for the night of the wedding. We're hoping to fill these up as soon as we can - if you'd like to stay in one of these rooms, just let us know.

There's plenty of other accommodation options around Berkeley, many of which are a short walk away:

People in the Bay Area often open up their homes for summer lettings while they themselves travel, so services like AirBnb are very popular in the area. For guests looking for self-catering accommodation, or a stay in a more homely location, Airbnb can be a great way of planning a trip.

Parking

There is a small amount of attendant parking available adjacent to the Bancroft Hotel. Click here for more info on nearby parking options.
